WOVEN AND WRAPPED SERIES, 2021
My woven and wrapped collage pieces of 2021 continue my work with paper, color and pattern while extending space and exploring domestic and ancient architecture with their adornments of mosaics, frescoes, and carvings along with contemplating the threat of climate change. I am fascinated by the maze-like floor plans of the ruined villas and public building of Pompeii and Herculaneum which make total destruction of civilizations very real and a solution to our own looming catastrophes is a necessity. With the pandemic forcing me indoor, I was a captive of my own domestic space, feelings about isolation ,and questions about escape.
